ATCO Safety
Training Car 1939
Why is a car in The Lawnmower Museum?
Because it's made by a Lawnmower Company. It has a 1½ hp Villiers Lawnmower Engine.
The car was built around a 1939 ATCO lawnmower with the cutters removed ,an economical way to train people to drive during the Second World War.
It was the inspiration for young budding Grand Prix drivers.
Having sold 200, production had to stop because of World War Two, and now is a very rare piece of British Motoring History.
The Atco Car Owners Club is an elite car club, preserving this important valuable vehicle.
